THE TIME IS NOW

Author Unknown

If you are ever going to love me,

Love me now, while I can know

The sweet and tender feelings

Which from true affection flow.

Love me now

While I am living.

Do not wait until I’m gone

And then have it chiseled in marble,

Sweet words on ice-stone.

If you wait until I am sleeping,

Never to awaken,

There will be death between us

And I won’t hear you then.

So, if you love me, even a little bit,

Let me know it while I am living

So I can treasure it.

      HI Joyce,
How sweet of you and glad you remember me. My mother would be so amazed that a photo of precious her would be on the cyber highway. Be well, safe and healthy.
      You friend forever,
      Sheila

Chronological time gets in the way of living in the “now”.
    Thank you for reminding me!

      My dear Nuala,
Living in the “now” is an art. There are lessons all of our lives to be in the present. And, yet, we must be reminded. Thank you for reminding me as well.

The poem is beautifully written and so thought-provoking. It makes me realize that I need to pick up the phone and call several people.

Sheryl, I have a picked up the phone quite a number of times since I read your reply. I have made arrangements on the calendar for future times.I have written notes, texted, emailed and worked at telling people I love, I love you!

And, I need to thank you. Your response to my comment motivated me to follow through on what I’d written. I saw your response to my comment shortly after you wrote it–and knew that I couldn’t respond to it then because I hadn’t yet called the people I needed to call. I now have called them and had wonderful conversations. Thank you!
