She received a gorgeous slip for her 16th birthday and learned women wore slips inside and under outer clothing to smooth the look of the outer clothes.
She thought that it was much too beautiful for her to wear, so it slept for 52 years in a bottom drawer until yesterday. It awakened fully on the hips of this 78 year old woman.
The woman twirled and glided across the floor wearing the slip among other tidbits of clothing, creating a miraculous change in thinking.
It is a dried up old slip saved for half a century and revered as a treasure. Today was the debut of the slip. It was just a rolled up forgotten rag and today it has become a center of interest, therapist, and a way to change and reposition the tales told, therefore a way to change the flow of thoughts.
Once upon a time this slip was too elegant for the receiver and today it has turned the tide in such a positive direction. The receiver of the gift, so long ago, has carried it into the present as a positive boast upward into self-acceptance.
So now once again it is what it is, until it isn’t.

Sometimes we keep something for special occasions and we think its too pretty or too fancy and then its too late to enjoy it… My philosophy is TO ENJOY THINGS. Don’t keep your best China for special day. Today is this special day. Don’t keep your beautiful lace slip for one day – today is the day to wear and enjoy it…

This is so happily beautiful. (And one of these days my daughter will inherit the two embroidered pillowcases my Aunt Gerda made for my mother’s hope chest before her wedding in 1917. Not really danceable.)

I absolutely love this. It’s so wonderful that you wore this gift from long ago and carried it into the present. I have too many gifts that I’ve received across the years tucked away in drawers and closets that I’ve never used because I was saving them for a special occasion. This post motivates we to pull them out and enjoy them .

This is universal, the impulse to “save” for the rainier day. I did this with a nightgown given me for my confirmation. Of course I would save it for my wedding night… HA, my Aunt Ruth said, “don’t bother with a fancy night gown, it will only end up in a heap on the floor.
But I brought out of it’s original Buffums wrappings and of course it was so out of style by then, I would have looked like a short imitation of Kathryn Hepburn in it.
It was a lesson!
